Battleaxe Hamilton by Deed Poll
By Tina Clough, 26 February 2009.
Christine Hamilton has officially changed her name after making the first ever informational video on how to change a name by deed poll.
The self proclaimed 'British Battleaxe' changed her name while making a video for online deed poll provider, The Legal Deed Service. The Legal Deed Service saw a gap in the market for a comprehensive step by step guide to filling out a deed poll application.
Jamie Jackson, Chief Executive of The Legal Deed Service, which has offices in both Islington, London and Market Drayton, Shropshire, said, "There are many reasons why people choose to change a name by Deed Poll, it could be that the individual is escaping a violent relationship, changing a name and title following gender re-assignment, a Foriegn National may wish to adopt a more british moniker, or a separated parent may choose to change her and her children's name back to her maiden name following a divorce."
"Christine agreed to film the video for us and we haven't looked back since! She's a real professional and I can't thank her enough. When she suggested changing her name to 'Mrs British Battleaxe' I was extremely surprised but it was such a good idea that we went ahead and made it official."

Set to go live on Monday 9th February 2009, the video filmed at the Hamilton's London flat, not only gives clients answers to some of the most commonly asked questions, but also additional information detailing which institution's should be contacted after a name change has been carried out.
Now the proud owner of the official deed poll detailing her legal name change, Christine said, "Well of course it had to be Mrs British Battleaxe - what else! Don't tell anyone that I'm really just a pussycat and anyway, Mrs Pussycat didn't seem quite right somehow!'
Kirsty Pounds, Client Services Manager added, "We have had some unusual name changes in the past but this really takes the biscuit.

Towards the end of last year we helped the formerly named George Garatt to change his name, according to the Guinness Book of Records, could be the longest name in the world, but this is the first high profile
name change we have conducted.""Christine has been lampooned in countless articles and cartoons as a battleaxe and after she wrote her 'Book of British Battleaxes' in 1997, this name seemed like the obvious choice."

Christine added, "I haven't tried writing any cheques with my new name but who knows what I might be doing with it in the future!"
