Kenny's New Name Makes A Splash
By Tina Clough, 1 July 2009.
Mansfield born, Gareth Griffiths has successfully changed his name by Deed Poll to Kenny Logflume today, after a work based dare saw his friends changing his name to something more apt!
The 24-year-old car salesman at Pentagon Vauxhall, changed his name after his workmates suggested that although it would be hilarious, he would never go through with it.
The former Gareth Griffiths, said, "I pulled a face on my driver's license photo and everyone thinks that my real name does not live up to the photo, so after much debate my workmates chose me a brand new name- Kenny Logflume. I will not go into why, but let's just say it has something to do with toilet humour!
"I literally changed it for the lasting giggles when I get my passport and business cards out, and my workmates thought it was great, one of them even paid for it, because they were so certain I would not go through with it!"
Kenny, who also gets called Joey at work, changed his name with online Deed Poll provider The Legal Deed Service, who recently changed the names of the Big Brother Housemates to 'Halfwit' and 'Dogface', for a fee of just £10.
Chief executive of The Legal Deed Service, Jamie Jackson said, "We are constantly getting crazy name change applications through to us and we have a right laugh in the office when they come through. We get people changing their names for charity, those changing their name in protest against something, like one man who changed his name to Dead Man Walking to highlight the plight of pensioners during the winter months, and we also get people changing their names for a dare, just like Kenny Logflume."
Mr Logflume added, "When I told my friends about my new name change they all though it was great- all except my mum, who went mad!. I am going to Ibiza at the weekend, so I am looking forward to taking my new name overseas!"
